HAKKIMDA

Hello,

I am Selin Öztürk. I was born on January 6, 1996, in Çorlu, Tekirdağ city. I completed my education in the city where I was born before starting university. After graduating from Çorlu Anatolian High School’s Foreign Language (English) department, I continued my education in the Tourism Guidance department at Balıkesir University in 2014. In this program, I received education in various fields such as mythology, archaeology, art history.

At the end of the third year, I decided to change my career path and transferred to Istanbul Yeni Yüzyıl University in 2017. After successfully completing the preparatory education, I started studying in the Translation/Interpretation (English) department. During my education, I took courses on translation theories, translation criticism, terminology, blogging, postwar American fiction, localization, oral translation and note-taking techniques, art in translation, literary translation, computer-assisted translation programs, editing training, Western culture, and more. I also focused on second foreign languages such as Spanish and sign language. During this process, I volunteered as a content writer on various websites and translation platforms. I also worked as an English teacher at the American Language School in Beşiktaş.

Later, due to my interest in sports, I obtained a Pilates Instructor certificate and provided English Pilates lessons to foreign students. In my third year, I had the opportunity to do an internship at Hamerg Translation, affiliated with Beşiktaş 25th Notary Public Office. Along with my graduation in the summer of 2023, I started working full-time at this place. Afterward, I completed my training as a legal translator at SVO Translation company and developed myself in this field. In a short period of time, I obtained my sworn translator appointment and gained the title of Sworn Translator. Currently, I am still working as a Sworn Translator at Hamerg Translation.

Additionally, due to my interest in fashion and journalism, I have started the Fashion Editing course at Istanbul Fashion Academy, which is currently ongoing.
